So ok guys I have two questions first my dad and grandfather went to dartmouth and my grandfather has a fund/scholarship set up his name that my dad donates too every year I hav a pretty bad gpa(3.35) with a good but not overwhelming ACT(32) do u think it is possible for me to get in.
Second lets say I was able to get in do u think it is right to take the spot of a more deserving applicant because i have more connections. Even if I think I would be a good fit at dartmouth.

Although the GPA and test scores are low for Dartmouth, having legacy and relatives who donate would most certainly work in your favor. I think the morality of the situation is something you have decide for yourself, but if you really love Dartmouth, and you know you can handle the workload (why is your GPA what it is? Laziness that you will fix in college? A personal reason? Because you didn’t manage your time?), I do not see any reason why you cannot apply and see what happens. If you get in, you can deal with morality problems then, if you do not get in, well, that’s that.

Also, I would love it if you chanced me back, Dartmouth is my number one choice!

i thought legacy only helps in the early decision round? (Im assuming you are a senior applying rd)

bump i also have another addition to this my brother ended up getting wait listed at dartmouth about ten years ago and my dad got pissed off and stopped giving he eventually started to give again but do you think an admissions office could hold a grudge for something like this or is it probably just a distant memory
