Dartmouth's amazing landscapes

I was surprised to see an amazing landscape of a pond on the Dartmouth website:
Home-School & Non-Traditional Educational Path

Is this a pond inside the main campus?

That’s actually a picture of the Connecticut River and Dartmouth’s boat house. There IS a pond at the edge of campus - Occom Pond. It’s at the north end of campus in a residential area and is lovely. There’s a one mile loop around it that many walkers/runners enjoy. And in the winter when it freezes over, they maintain the pond for ice skaters and pond hockey. At the north end of the pond is the Dartmouth Outing Club house and also Hanover Country Club, a golf course that’s college owned.

Here’s nice photo of Occom Pond from the Dartmouth website:

I LOVE FISHING.
Are there any fishing spots?

What a lovely photo!

Folks don’t generally fish in the pond although there are a ton of koi (big goldfish). In the spring and fall, they swim towards the top and there are ribbons and ribbons of orange in the water - it’s pretty spectacular. People do fish in the river which is just a short walk from campus.

There also are (or were) first year trips that concentrate on fishing. D went on one although she had never fished in her life and had a blast, so there must be fishing in the area. I would expect the Outing Club would have a fishing-type person or two.

I’m just telling WOW
[Fishing at Dartmouth](<a href=“Dartmouth Outdoors”>Dartmouth Outdoors):

The Connecticut River valley, within the immediate vicinity of Hanover and Norwich, offers a wide range of fishing opportunities. …

Thanks for the info
