My daughter found out today that she has been accepted to UCF fall term 2012. From the EFC calculators our EFC is ~15000. She has a FL pre-paid tuition plan (no dorm and fee differential) is on track for the 100% Bright Futures. Does anyone know about how much in loans we will need to take out to cover her college costs?

The cost of attendance at UCF for this year is approximately $18,000. Tuition per credit hour is $103.32, which would be covered by your FL Prepaid. With fees and differential added, per credit hour is $186.13. Bright Futures pays $101.00 per credit hour. So it looks like you should have a credit of $204.32 per credit hour, leaving $18.00 per credit hour, which can be used for books or whatever. Room and Board is $8,600, so if your daughter takes the maximum Stafford Loan of $5,500, that would leave an additional $3,100. This figure does not include costs of transportation, personal expenses or books, which will vary for each student.
