My daughter has been accepted to both schools. UT has a much higher ranking in several of the business majors including her major. She does not want to go to UT. I can't find any reasons for her going to Mays. As bad as the economy and job market is now and in the future I'm trying to find good reasons for her to go to Mays. Any comments?

Here is a good reason… she doesn’t want to go to UT, so why would she? Honestly, don’t make her go somewhere that she doesn’t want to go just because it is “ranked” higher. Rankings are a very incomplete picture of a school at best.

Look at it this way: If your daughter goes to the school she does not want to go to, it won’t matter what its ranking is because performance will most likely suffer. People get caught up in prestige, but if you don’t want to be learning there then it is a mute point.

mccombs is better though. a lot better

both schools are great, so if she doesnt want to go to UT then A&M is the next best public school to pick

Before anyone can offer you any meaningful advice on Mays vs, McCombs, it would be helpful to understand why your daughter does not want to go to UT.

if she doesn’t want to go there, i can’t imagine sending her there.

if she didn’t have an opinion, then maybe you could, but since she does … then seems like you are out of luck.

you can try to manipulate it so she gets a better picture of UT so that she changes her mind. send her up for a weekend to visit friends. she may have so much fun that she can’t wait to go there. you have nothing to lose.

my DD would like me to choose for her … but i am not going to do it!
