So my daughter just got accepted to both schools not too long ago. At first she was really excited about the prospect of being able to study animation at either one, but thence and I started hearing things about each one and she started to get really anxious.
First, SJSU. While I heard it has a good animation program and good connections to the industry, but I also heard that it’s really hard to deal with advisors and coordinators that makes it difficult for student to get things done. While I also heard there is concerns about safety on campus and generally it’s unsafe to walk around at night, even bullying on campus and dorms. Tell me, is there some truth to this? Also If anyone doesn’t mind I like to hear form both female and male students. I definitely would worry if SJSU is really that dangerous, especially since it’s eight hours from where we live.
Then, For CSULB, I heard it’s program is nice as well, but so-so connection, so that worries us with “what happens after college?” I even heard occasionally that the resources are limited and don’t prepare you much portfolio-wise. While I know this is ultimately my daughter’s choice, I would still like to informed about, so I can help her when needed.
