avon:

you might take a look at UCSB which has an accounting program for undergrads. I don't think that the Davis program would give you enough accounting classes -- for a CPA, you need accounting thru intermediate, tax, non-profit accounting, and cost accounting at a minimum.

Is it a useful degree? i mean, what can i do after I graduate?

Go to CSU and get a Business (BS) degree or go to UCD, which one is better and more useful?

i am so worry...

AvonT: If you want to be an accountant the easy way, get an undergraduate degree in accounting from one of the CSU's. Cal Poly accounting majors, in particular, all get accounting jobs upon graduation. However, there are plenty of accountants who got undergraduate degrees in other subjects and then completed masters in accounting.

Thanks! ricegal!

I am now thinking between UCD Managerial economics and San Jose State University Business Adm (BS) majoring in Finance and Accounting.

Actually, if i want to get a better job after i graduate, which school should i attend?
I want to get a CPA, but i want to go to Ibank too.

I heard that students get better chance to get into one of the lvies for MBA if they get a Econ major in the undergraduate? Is that true? This is because I want to attend UPenn Wharton for my graduate education!
Please help.

SJSU or UCD...

Is this degree too board?

I have no idea between the two schools you are considering which would get you a better job. Most ibankers in CA come from Berkeley or Stanford or their equivalents in southern CA. It's a very tough field to break into and very demanding once you have the job. I do know that I was attending community college accounting classes with a guy from UC Davis who said that if someone had told him how worthless a degree in econ from UCD was he would never have majored in it. But, that is only one data point from one student. His experience leads me to believe is that further education will be necessary with a degree like that. That's not necessarily a bad thing. A masters in accounting from SJSU will open a lot of doors. I suppose if you are trying to get into Wharton, UCD is the better choice but you better have a 4.0 plus a year of full-time work after college. It isn't necessary to major in Econ, but you should take the basic Econ courses. Take a lot of math and learn how to write very well. A double major in math and history would be good. However, really college is the time to be taking courses that interest you. If you find that psychology or French is what you like then go for it.

So it doesnt matter where I go for undergraduate education, right? As long as I get a high GPA, I still have a chance get into Wharton.

Is San Jose State good in Business?
