UC Davis(Managerial Econ) Vs SJSU(Accountancy)

I'm having a lot of trouble with this decision. UCD has the better social life and they're a better school in general. SJSU has a good accountancy program and they're in the middle of silicon valley which is nice for jobs. I'm not too sure how the UC Davis managerial economics degree is to be honest and I'm wondering if I can still get a decent job with decent pay after I graduate. My parents think economics won't get be anywhere and accountancy is the way to go, but I'm trying to find the pros on why it can be better for my future. I'm not dead set on doing accounting for my career, I'm open to anything business related.

Any comments or information on this would be great, thanks.

What about a double major in accounting/finance or accounting/economics? Could open more doors IMHO

Are you sure accounting is what you want to do? Have you taken an accounting class before? Many students find that they do not like accounting after taking an introductory course.

If you are absolutely sure that you want to major in accounting, then SJSU is where you want to go. However, if you are not sure, UCD’s Managerial Economics major is a great major for anyone who wants to go into business.

Economics, managerial economics, and accountancy both have great job prospects and will lead you to a great career.

Here is my experience at SJSU. I am currently a student at SJSU. The campus is located in downtown San Jose along with EY, PwC, Deloitte, BPM, Grant Thronton, McGladrey, Frank Rimerman, Sensiba San Filippo, and KPMG right in Santa Clara. All of these firms recruit directly from SJSU. I am on a five year senior track to graduate with 150 units.

I applied to all of the firms mentioned above and I got offers from multiple firms and accepted an offer with one of the big 4 firms. All of my friends in Beta Alpha Psi got offers from firms. EY and PwC recruit alot of people every Fall semester from SJSU. Its crazy. If you choose SJSU, you have to join Beta Alpha Psi. All of these firms sponsor Beta Alpha Psi at SJSU and they have tons of events throughout the semester so members can network with recruiters and the firm’s professionals.
