I’m thinking about applying for the Davis Honors Challenge for the upcoming year. Does anyone here have any insight into the program? Anything that you like about it (i.e. living in the living-learning community)? Also, what is the usual acceptance rate for the program?

I was wondering some of the same things! I asked a similar question on the ask an orientation leader thread and this is what I got, don’t know if it will help you at all:

“I don’t know much about the program, but I think you should definitely apply. It will help you get involved in research and give you more personalized attention your first year. Also, you get priority registration and, at least this year, second year DHC students get housing at The Colleges (really nice on-campus apartments that are really hard to get into.)”

I would guess the priority registration alone is worth it. I’m looking into this as well but I’m transferring. It seems to be open to transfers too with some requirements (3.25+ GPA).

The DHC program is pretty much the same as the Regent’s Scholar program. I don’t believe it has any money attached to it nor is the housing in Miller Hall where RS students live. I suggest you look at the benefits of RS and except for the money and Miller Hall everything else should be the same.

As for The College, RS students also have priority. My D who is a RS looked into it and the cost was higher than the Dorms and without food. There are far better places to live in at a lower cost. D chose to live at The Rambles.
