Davis vs CAL for Environmental Science

D will likely soon be choosing between Davis and CAL for Environment Science. She has visited both schools, and could see herself at either … most everyone at her HS (students, teachers ) see it as a no brainier (CAL) - but this is likely more the typical Berkeley “Prestige” factor response. From what I can tell the Env Science offerings at Davis are much broader and possibly deeper. I have also been told that Davis is better for a biophysical emphasis and that Berkeley would be better for policy & management emphasis.

Any one have any direct experience or opinions to share?

cal is a more prestigious school overall, but Davis tops it in the sciences, and this major included. What you are told is definetly true. Cal is better known than Davis for engineering and i suppose business programs, but the other UCs Davis and SD are better known for their biology and science departments
