Day students at boarding schools.

Next year I'm going to be a II former, day student at The Groton School. Can anybody tell me what it's like to be a day student. Are you not as close with your peers because you don't board? Can I have friends over to my house? I'm just a little nervous I guess.

It depends on the exact school rules and how close you live. I lived in the next town over from Phillips Academy, meaning the friends’ parents would have needed to send over a signed permission form for any boarding student to come visit me, and only during weekends.

In general, as a Day student you get more freedom but miss out on the dorm life.

Thanks. I guess if I want to see my friends I should go to schoo, huh?
