^it’s not. last year already dealt with foreign policy, jacksonian sounds the most plausible now since its domestic.

Does anyone know if there’s a chance for anything on the Gilded Age?

For imperialism we can throw in Hawaii, Philippines, and Cuba(We actually didn’t conquer it. The Philippines thought that we were going to give them freedom too, because we gave it to the Cubans, but we didn’t until very late.) Add those three people who said that in order to imperialistic you need a strong navy, and other stuff. But for the most part we were not really an imperialistic country.

Gilded age is possible. The guesses are antebellum, jacksonian era, and gilded age.

edit: @indianjatt it’s too late for jokes.

Aww man. I forgot the Gilded Age a bit. Could you expand Iprocrastinate? Like is it just going to be on Carnegie, Rockefeller, Morgan, the emergence of AFoL?

What jokes theReach? I just couldn’t remember the names and am too lazy to get my book, but you need to stop jumping to random conclusions.

My teacher’s banking on the Civil War for the DBQ and the Articles of Confed or George Washington’s precedents for one of the essays.

Civil war could be related to the Revolutionary War. We had loyalists and we had anti-loyalists. We had the north and we had the south. Just throwing in a tip to make a connection to two drastically different things. Just something my teacher told me could be a connection if I remember correctly.

Do you guys think one of either DBQ or FRQ would be on native americans/women/african american history???

Can someone list some things that happened during the Gilded Age. I know it was a time of prosperity, in a sense, but the industries were corrupt, and the presidents were pro-industry. That’s about all I know. Are there specific things that pertain to this topic that everyone here should know?

@ smilelv: It is a possibility. But IMO, I think you should already have a strong understanding in those areas because the MC talks about all those 3 topics. For example, they may ask about the Dawes Act, Seneca Falls, or the views on Booker T., or WEB Dubois. Anything is fair game those topics.

Or on eisenhower and other stuff after that?

Last year’s DBQ was on the Vietnam War, so I’m guessing, not 100%, that it will not be in the time period 1950-2000.

Umm well, in terms of DBQs, I don’t think so, mainly because last years DBQ was on the Vietnam War. Ike and the Vietnam War are pretty close to each other. CB may choose another time period. Things to know about Ike though: During his term, the Highway Interstate Act allowed for the white flight to take place (mass white populations moving to suburban areas, blacks moving into cities). Also the Eisenhower Doc: If anyone is under armed aggression, the U.S. will provide aid.

what about essays on native americans/women/african american history??? do you think that it’s likely?

I already answered your question. It’s possible. You’re talking about things that are very broad, while the test focuses on specific time periods.

Gilded age please! I know that Carnegie, Rockefeller, Morgan, and all those rich dudes were part of the time, but elaborate please!!! Would you consider the 1920’s(Automobile boom part of the depression time or is it referred to as something totally different?)

thats technically not in the gilded age, but has some relations to it. ie. Labor unions, industrial support from government. you can always talks about carnegie and morgan, but always tie it back to whatever the prompt is. Sorry I dont know much about the gilded age. but thats all the advice i have to give on the dbq in general. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ANSWER THE QUESTION. I misunderstood a practice dbq and i very EASILY strayed from the prompt and i ended up getting a 4. It was today too, the eve of the exam. So please everyone, answer the question. It makes a big difference in the points. the graders cannot give you credit even if they wanted if you talk about ww2 when its obviously ww1 (just an example.)

Most preferred topics for me will be:
- Gilded age
- WW1 or WW2
- Civil War / Reconstruction

I don’t want jacksonian era… I just reviewed it and don’t feel it had that much to test. BUT I do want the antebellum era reforms very, very, very much. Just don’t wanna get into politics in jacksonian.

Does anyone else think that a DBQ on the Civil War would be way too predictable?

There really is not much else to write about, except these proposed topics. Not saying that the list is limited to what is shown on this site. But there is some accuracy to the Jacksonian Age, and antebellum. It makes sense, since these haven’t been tested in a while. Like a LONG while. For sure though, Vietnam War is not going to be the DBQ question, it may be related to it though, unlikely, but yeah…And everyone please! Get some rest. You should get at least 8 hours of sleep, and lay off the caffine, eat eggs in the morning, with OJ (Vitamin C). Haha. Studying is 75%, physical state is the rest. JUST GET SOME REST, CRAMMING ALL NIGHT WON’T HELP. I am off to bed folks.
