Does anyone know the deal with DC++ on Macs? If it's not possible, what do current Cornellians or anyone in general recommend as a filesharing application for Macs?

Thanks in advance

Does anyone know the deal with DC++ on Macs? If it's not possible, what do current Cornellians or anyone in general recommend as a filesharing application for Macs?

Thanks in advance

Google Shakespeer.
shakespeer.sourceforge.net

thank you towerpumpkin...by the way, have you had success with this program?

I don't use a mac; it's just that topic comes up a lot in regard to DC++.

Does anyone know what hub I'm supposed to use for shakespeer?

I second the hub question...

thchub.no-ip.com:3307

is the correct hub address

the regular dc++ for windows is found here, right?
http://www.dcpp.net/

I typed that hub address into the search bar but nothing came up. What am I doing wrong?

Here are instructions on how to set up DC++

..its all you'll need. I just tried out DC++ today for the first time and it was freakin *****in. I d/l Bad Boys and Bad Boys 2 in 10 minutes..both. I was pumped. It was like a 1.5 mb/s download speed.

yea, i typed in the hub address and it’s not working

you have to be using cornell’s internet. so if you’re off campus, it won’t work.

[Cornell DC++ Setup Guide](http://www.cornelldc.com/)

using a mac/shakespeer, says port wont’ connect to the address or something like that, help plz

If it won’t work, just ask one of your tech savvy friends there for a bit of help. With about 5 minutes of fiddling, it’s not too hard to get it working if you know what you’re doing.

***. I’m pretty computer literate and I can’t get it working on ShakesPeer.

FU DC.

AFAIK, the Cornell DC hub hasn’t been set up yet. DNS lookups on thchub.no-ip.com and thchub.no-ip.org don’t yield anything useful yet.

^ Well there we go. Haha.

So does anyone ever get in trouble for sharing on DC++?

People occasionally do get in trouble, though not often. They usually have to pay some fine to the university. The bigger deal is using bittorrent or other P2P software, one of my friends got busted twice for that. I’ve stayed away from other P2P programs except for the really obscure stuff.

I am having a little bit of trouble setting it up. I am relatively tech savvy, but this program seems to have problems launching. I am using OS X Leopard. When starting the program, I get the main program window, but a smaller window saying, “Please wait while Shakespeer is starting up…Initializing Databases” doesn’t go away. Help?
