I got accepted to the DC internship program this summer through Funds for American Studies. With scholarship, the remaining cost will be around $4000 including housing, tuition and living expense for a month. The introduction to the program sounds pretty good but I feel kinda weird out because they seem to be a little too eager to get you to be involved…
I was wondering if this internship is worth it or not? And if anyone knows about or has experience with this internship/program I would really appreciate your input.
Thanks!
Skimming some articles and comments online, the program sounds like a decent introduction to DC and politics if you have that money to burn and don’t have other options. Seems pretty highly dependent on the exact internship you’re placed in. I don’t think it’s particularly prestigious or impressive to be a part of the program, but it has the potential to be a good experience. If $4000 doesn’t come easily to you, it’s almost certainly not worth it.
