Dc++

Can DC++ only be used on campus, or can I use it at home too? I'm commuting so a bunch of my friends were telling me how screwed I am because half the stuff Rutgers gives us is only for use on campus.

What is DC ++…?

Oh, I see; it’s a PC file-transfer thing… too bad I have a mac…

You can’t connect to the Rutgers hub unless you’re on campus, but you can use DC++ to connect to a public hub.

DC++ is only a program. Mac users can use ShakesPeer instead to connect to the Rutgers hub. I’m not familiar with how to set that up though.

I found a page where they explained how to set it up, but I feel like they are missing some parts to it like the Rutgers hub address:

[Setting Up DC++/Shakespeer (router or not) | Freakin Rutgers](http://www.freakinrutgers.com/guide/setting-dcshakespeer-router-or-not)

When you get to this part that says “Now you need to add the actual hub. Click the star icon on the toolbar at the top. Then click the “New…” button…”, this is what you type into the blank spaces in the properties box:

Name: Rutgers
Address:

edit: I hope I’m allowed to post this here without getting penalized. It is still technically “illegal” to do. I think they even shut down something like this at Rutgers like 6 years ago and recently last year they changed the address again because someone found out. I’m not going to put the hub address. PM me just in case so I don’t get anyone in trouble.

I just moved into Rockoff today. I spent all afternoon trying to figure this out. Can you message me the name? Thanks!

Bump. Can someone help us with setting up DC++ for the 2010 year? I have a feeling the instructions from Freakin’ Rutgers is a bit out dated.
