Deadline for Response to Waitlist?

Is there a deadline for accepting a place on CMU's waitlist? Would appreciate it if someone who has already received his/her letter could tell me.

I'm an international applicant, which means that my letter will probably arrive rather late.

Can you not fax your response? or is that prohibited?

My son was wait listed CIT-ECE and we did not receive the kind of letter you are talking about. I don't know what is going on with CMU. Did a lot of people on this forum receive a letter explaining if you want to be on the waiting list?
When I called admissions after receiving the admissions letter, I was told to call back April 7 to find out about the wait list. My son was wait listed at Cornell and Cornell sent us a card in the mail to send back where you can tell Cornell if you want to stay on the wait list or not.

mdcissp, I was under the impression that some posters here received a letter (or some other form of notification) asking them to opt in/out of a priority/regular waitlist.

Also, I understand that your son has already been accepted at one of CMU's other colleges. Perhaps the waitlist process is different for admitted students? In effect, you're waiting for a transfer between colleges and not queueing for a place in CMU.

thisoldman, hm but I don't have anything to respond to atm. I have no way to find out if I've been offered the priority/regular waitlist option until my letter (there's one right? not sure now lol) arrives.

I just want to know if I'm at danger of missing any deadline(s).

Son was waitlisted. Letter states reply deadline is April 11.

My son's acceptance letter was denied SCS, wait-listed CIT-ECE, and accepted to various majors in ECE. It was a combination of denied, wait list, and accepted acceptance. We did not receive any other letter. I will have to call CMU again although I think my son is going to take one of the great merit aids offered to him at another fine school. CMU was disappointing.

Thanks alot DJMom ... I'll probably have to call them up then
