Deadlines are cold.

Hi busy people.
I realise many of us are in bad emotional state these days, But i live in the middle of nowhere and internet is the only one i can ask.
I have 9 supplements to do.
And all deadlines are 1st jan.
I am applying for fee waivers and i have got my counsellor to write an official letter for the schoos (as required) .
This letter will be mailed with the school forms by 1st Jan. The common app doest let the payments done until application or the supplement is submitted.
I wanted to ask if its fine to submit my common app and supplements online before 1st jan and send the school forms + the fee waiver letter by mail by 1st jan?

Most deadlines are postmarked date, as in you're fine as long as you SEND it on the day.

However, I would check as some colleges' deadlines are not postmarked, but due date deadlines, in which case they would have to be in by Jan 1st.

The post office we had planned to use closed early on Dec 31, so watch that - we had to drive to a different post office with a later closing time.

this isn't really related... but i hate the fact that college deadlines are all during the holiday season.

how convenient that when people are on break and are most likely to finish up their apps, colleges completely shut down communication for 3 weeks.

I COMPLETELY agree with you, blu_g8orade!
Why don't colleges just make the deadlines in mid-January...
to answer your question SiraH, I'm sure it's fine to mail it on January 1, but just check all of the colleges websites to be sure.

Question relating to the topic:

I guess my counselor was not aware about the CB fee waivers. I emailed her about them last week and have yet to receive an email. Do colleges accept fee waivers postmarked after their deadlines? I can't find any information about it anywhere.
