What exactly is the writing portion on this scholarship? Is it an essay or just writing how the topic/idea influenced you?

I think the instructions are fairly clear that they are looking for you to explain/expand on whatever you did for the box portion. That to me does not indicate a formal essay. And as they say, it isn’t really even supposed to be about you, but about the topic/idea in general.
I would think that would apply to the commentary as well.

Thanks fallenchemist!

@fallenchemist, the box is for absolutely anything? When I go to send the application in, I may attach whatever necessary? The part where it says to submit a link to my scholarship project: I was going to attach my project’s Facebook page, but should I attach a video instead? And, could I still be able to send them my Facebook page anyway? Thanks.

Yes, the box is VERY open ended. Whatever your imagination sees going there.

As far as the rest, I am not sure what you are asking, since I have no idea what your project is. I think the best way to think about it is, if you were presenting this in person, what material would you want them to see, and will this be clear to them without you actually being there to explain it? So if you send the Facebook link along with your commentary, will they understand? Or does the video do it better? Both? I think you can send both.
