Tulane Deans Scholarship Confusions

Hi, if anyone could answer, I have started working on my application for the Deans Scholarship and I have a few questions. First off, if I am submitting an application through YouTube, do I have to have a written essay/commentary sent in with the video? I am confused as to what the 250- to 500-word written commentary is. Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone applying!

I had another questioned planned, but I found the answer online. Forgot to take out the “first off” part out of my post…

You do need a written commentary with a YouTube video, or any project that you choose to do. I did the exact same thing as you are doing (uploaded a video to YouTube for my project). I then wrote a small piece about why I chose the topic I did, how it was influential in my life, and quotes from people who had also had similar experiences as I did related to the topic. I don’t think the written portion needs to be an essay (otherwise they would call it an essay instead of a commentary, right?) but rather any sort of writing that you see fit to accompany your box project. Good luck!
