I just received a letter from UO saying I have been awarded a Nonresident Dean's Scholarship. Did anyone else receive this award?
:)

Congratulations, jennyheart!

Yes, our S also received notice of the award yesterday.

Yes my son got it yesterday as well! Congrats to all.

i got it too. :)

My son had originally gotten $3000 but got a letter yesterday saying it is now $4000. Anyone else get bumped up?

Yes – my D did too — an extra $1K – I bet this is extremely unusual – especially for public schools this year!

Do you think it’s a marketing ploy to try to get OOS applicants excited about an extra $1k and hopefully decide on UO?
I’m sure they would love to get the OOS fees in this economy.

yeah i got it. 7,000 dollars! only school to give me any aid…

…■■■

i got my whole tuition covered in financial aid by oregon, but its all by loans and such.

26g a year in loans for my parents, like 5 a year for me…ughh.

i got an amazing package from lake forest college near chicago though, maybe I can use that as an appeal??

You can always ask. Maybe they’ll make an adjustment, although with budget issues the way they are in the state of Oregon (like almost every other state), I don’t know how much money UO really has to play with. Don’t know if you don’t ask though.

That’s way too much in loans though. Definitely not a road you or your parents want to go down.

Well the close to $4k increase in OOS tuition just ate up the Dean’s Scholarship. My son won’t be attending UO but he does feel good about getting a scholarship somewhere.
