Dear MIT

I agree. I agree. I agree.

About 8% of us have already been completely decided... if you think about it, right now all they are doing is choosing between Accept and Defer for the people that are left. Which might not be some of us... oh god.

Think positive thoughts! A kid from my school's class of '01 visited our English classes to-day to talk about Harvard (he goes there), and he and my English teacher convinced me to apply to Harvard... so if they think I have a good chance THERE, then I should at least get a defer at MIT, right?! Le sigh.

Also, my Mom was horified to-day when she learned that one of the big things in applying to college is having research... she said, "What? you mean like once you get in they offer it to you after a few years..." and I said, "No, thousands of kids have already done research and published papers and stuff. It's really sort of a requirement if you want to have a really good chance of getting in..." and she said, "But, what about having a childhood? Summers should be for being a KID. I guess it's okay if you KNOW you're very passionate about something and you love it, but... buuuut..."

Yeah. MIT do you know my mom?

i REALLY doubt you will receive an outright denial in two weeks, JLP. they reserve those for the people with <1300, 3.0 GPA, and who write an essay about their driver's license as their biggest accomplishment :D

I chose to do what I loved and enjoy whatever I could of my childhood and I don't regret it. If this way of living 17 years gets me rejected from the top schools.... so be it =/

Heheh, thank-you, LSA. You make me happy.

And Pebbles, "Trudat".

You're welcome, JLP. Gotta love the initials crowd. (My initials aren't even LSA)

Bwahaha, mine aren't JLP, either. Do yours stand for something? Because mine do; I've said it before on these boards. (It's a certain Starship Captain...)

/me scratches head ... erk.. Picard? :)

LSA = Lead Service Attendant. It's a type of on-board train employee. (which I'm not)

btw, do you have aim?

Yessir I do! Though my SN has nothing to do with Jean Luc...

hmm ... :o

PM me if you'd like to talk! Though I am going to bed right now. RIGHT NOW. I swear it.

"I chose to do what I loved and enjoy whatever I could of my childhood and I don't regret it. If this way of living 17 years gets me rejected from the top schools.... so be it =/"

lolz

if mit rejects me i slit my wrists. (down the street not across the road lol)

mit > life!

Interesting ... some actual MIT interview reports, and the resulting admissions decisions:

http://www.pclaunch.com/~kayton/MIT/genericreports.htm

Darn. Why didn't I read that before my interveiw? Ahh!

I can only imagine what my interveiwer said... but of course, the interveiw isn't everything. On that site they make it seem like the quality of the interveiw report DIRECTLY and ABSOLUTELY influences the admissions decision.

I guess I know more now for any other interveiws I might have...

And the "Fred" interveiw makes me shudder, because I see myself in some of it--mainly the no-questions part. Pah.

That last James kid who was admitted as a junior was quite impressive. If a kid like that took my spot, I wouldn't be bitter at all. :)

Wow. Reading that, I'm never getting in. w00t.

Yeah, I agree. My confidence just dropped by about four factors of 10.

lmao.

You didn't pick your zits while you talked... did you?

LMFAO
I saw that and couldn't believe it. :D

I think if your interveiw went well they wouldn't mention picking zits, even if you did it--it was just another detail to add to a horrible interveiw in this case.
