i only started preparing for the psat for a week, when i took the test this morning, i always ran out of the time (espeically for the writing section of passage reading!), i had to guess like 8 questions when there was merely 2 mins left since i didn't wanna leave any blank(risking the chance of getting points off).
my sat will be 2 months after, i really wanna do good on it, and i heard the actual sat is twice as long as the psat, any suggestion how to do good on the 'speed test'?

The best way is just to practice a lot, in my opinion. Skip the questions you aren’t sure about, and go back after you’ve done the rest. If you have to make a totally wild guess, just leave the question blank; it’s better than getting points off for a wrong answer.

while the actual sat is twice as long, that is because there are twice as many sections (5 on psat, 10 on sat)

if you’re going too slowly, is it because you spend too much time reading or too much time on the questions? either way you need to practice, but i find it helps to answer questions pertaining to the parts of the passage as you go. there are a bunch of extremely helpful guides on this site too!

Why are you taking the SAT so early? Are you a sophomore? junior? Even as a junior, you shouldn’t take it until March/May.

Anyways, I remember my first time taking the PSAT. I did sooooo poorly. Since then I practiced, practiced, and practiced. The only way to improve is through practice!

what are some of good sources then? i possess blue book and barron.

No question that the more you become familiar with the test, the better you will do. This takes a commitment of many hours. That being said, a B/C student can not typically expect to study the SAT enough to get a 99th percentile score.

The blue book is pretty good, frankly. Also, take a look at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/955109-silverturtles-guide-sat-admissions-success.html
