So I'll be attending Rutgers this September and am currently figuring out which bank would be the best to get a debit card for. When I was visiting the campus I saw there were many chase banks around the campus. Does anyone have any recommendations on which banks to get a debit card from? Would there be ATM for that specific card around campus?

I’m on Busch and the campus center has both a Wachovia and a PNC ATM.

Hey cerps343, any bank of america around there?

Thanks for the response!!!

bottlecap, I don’t know of any Bank of Americas. I know there isn’t one on Bush or Livingston, but I’m not sure about College and Cook/Douglass

Cook center has Wells Fargo (formerly Wachovia, which was bought by WF). There’s a BofA ATM in downtown NB, but it’s not convenient to campus.

thank you.

Doesn’t Rutgers offer some sort of debit card connected with the student ID? I forget what it’s called. Anyone wanna explain how that thing works? I have a Provident Bank debit card but I figure using the ID one would be more convenient.

Arizona, it’s called RUExpress. Basically, you deposit money into your RUExpress account, which is then accessible using your Student ID card. The disadvantage with using RUExpress, is it’s only accepted at certain places on and off campus. However, with a debit card, you can use it anywhere, anytime. To me a debit card allows much more freedom.

Oh, I guess that’s true about the freedom haha. I’ll probably keep my current debit card on me and put a few dollars in the RUExpress account every week or so to pay for things on campus. Thanks!

ru express is VERY convenient, especially if you plan on doing laundry in the dorm. it beats saving quarters.
