<p>Can decal classes count toward the 6 upper division units that L&S requires outside of your major?</p>
<p>There is nothing in the L&S unit handbook or on the DeCal site or on the English department website which suggests otherwise. The only apparent limitation on the 6 UD extra-departmental units is that a class cross-listed in your department cannot count.</p>
<p>98/198 (and the similar courses, 99, 197, 199) courses are limited to 4 units per semester, 16 units maximum; says nothing about having to take the 6 units for a letter grade, or not independent study.</p>
<p>So, in short: DeCals seem to count.</p>
