December 13th SSAT scores!

if you're an 8th grader.

no, i'm not. we're doing basic algebra right now (grade 7) so i'm not sure if that's advanced or anything..

well if you are in algebra 1, you're 2 years ahead. i was algebra 1 when i was in 8th grader.

My school doesn't offer algebra 1 for 6th graders, but I know some schools do. I'm in Geometry (8th grader).

I got
98% Reading
89% for verbal 83% for math and 95% total
but my grades arent really that great i get Mostly As a couple Bs and usually a C and in seventh grade i failed a six weeks in reading with a sixty six (i got a 100 the next six weeks though we only had like two or three grades that six weeks and i didn't trn one in) and that year i also got a 36 on my english final exam i'm applying for 10th grade and i was the AAU indoor national champion in the shot put and i was a hundredth of a second from making it to the finals in the hurdles i also qualified for the AAU junior olympics in the hurdles and shot put (i didn't go becase i was hurt) i qualified for the state games of texas in the shot and discus and i would have qualified in the hurdles but i couldn't run because again i was hurt i sprained my hip (it was horrible make sure you stretch when you run. i was out for about four months)

How did current 8th graders fair in the math section of the december ssat?

I'm in 8th grade, I got 800

I'm an 8th grader is pre-calc right now...I got a 97 on SSAT math. I'm kinda disappointed, even though I know I shouldn't be. I guess its been a long time since I did geometry (the level where the SSAT goes up to).

i hadnt even done geometry when i was in 8th grade. i did algebra which is a year ahead. im doing geometry now. howd u get so far ahead pinkheart? did you do it independently and took a class at a nearby college?

I have a private math tutor who teaches me pre-calc, but at school I'm in Geometry. But there was like virtually no Geometry on the actual test. It was all logical, you didn't need to any formulas or anything.

Yup, the geometry part wasn't hard..but it was pretty tricky if you go to quickly. Or atleast it was for me, luckily I went back and caught mistakes.

My son's personal score range in math was 686-728 and he got 707 which placed him in the 60th percentile. He has barely touched on geometry in school. What was your personal score range for math? Math is his strongest subject so this was really surprising. He did really well in English and had a overall percentile ranking of 93%, total score 2220. Thinking about retaking the ssat in January, any ideas?

Me? I have no clue I don't memorize that stuff I was in the 93 percentile my second time but I won't be turning that one in because my first one was overall better. But it will be different because im a 10th grade male.

I hate you all.

My school doesn't allow for advanced math courses- we all have the same requirements, and if we want to we can take calculus senior year. This is such a bad situation that I may have to either take math with freshman or take a summer session.

@ Saer:
So if you didn't have advanced: You'd be in algebra 1 right now, right??

How did you do on the math section of the SSATs? My future high school (because I'm re-taking next year..) has no advanced math either, and seeing others taking pre-calc scare me .. grr!

just take a summer math course. im taking 3 this summer, maybe?

Oooh during the summer? That sucks! Summer is for FUN!

oh my personal score range for math was 779-800.

yeaa i agree.still wanna get ahead thou. plus math class wont take up too much time, ill still get a chance to hang out with my friends.

lol, i got beaten badly in math. a 93% isn't that great considering the level im at.
