December 2007 MATH level 2

did u guys get 1 for the question where two periods of a function was shown and it asked for f(100)?

anybody remember the length of the diagonal of the parallelogram? I bubbled 30 something

that works too, it's 8

Nick89 - I put 1/7 at first too, but then I realized that my signs were just messed up. 2 of the slopes were positive if I remember correctly (It was a sideways, kind of slanted triangle), so I knew that the slope had to be negative, since neg X pos X pos = neg

pink, i put it was zero but im not sure.

I guess even I did the same..

I think so pinki, it was the same as f(9) whatever that was (think it might have been one) since I believe the functin repeted every 7

yea...i got f(9) also. i think that was one

Pinki10583: I think that I got 1.5... It repeated after 7 numbers on the x-axis, so I just kept adding 7 on my calc until I got to like 104 or something like that... So I backtracked 4 numbers and it lined up to 1.5 on the y-axis... Did anyone else get the same?

@Pinki
"Y/(2x-y)=something and X/(2y-x)=?"

Its Y/(2x-y)=10, and its 11/29 like you put

But OMG i found that question so hard. At first i tried to do it algebraically with variables which took waaaayyy too long. So then I said to myself that CB would never set a question that couldn't be done in 30s so I just plugged in numbers for x and y to find the answer.

what was the answer to the paired gloves question?? it was like, what is the minimum number to pick out to guarantee a match? idk, but i put two. that question was weird though.

sillbill, that was the right method but you got it wrong since the function did not start at the origon

also wat was the answer to the counterexample question?

there was also a prime number question.....what was the answer for that?
i put 4 for the glove question

yea it was f(9). The function repeated every time x increased by 7 if i remember correctly.

Anyone remember the one about polar coordinates?

what DOES not points equal (1, pi/2)?

i chose (-1, -5pi/something) cuz it was the only one with negative and x and negative y value. Not sure at all though.

@artstar: i think the ans was 4.. it was definitely not 2 though..

dang! i was going to put four, but eh whatevs.

prime question was none (there is no formula to find primes). Not 100% sure though.

and for the gloves it was 4

(BB GG RR) gloves, if pick out 3 you can get different pairs. Once u pick 4th then u have 1 pair. Sorry m8 but i think you're wrong.

@pinki: prime no. ques.. the ans was r+s+1... as 5+7+1=13 which is prime..

Yes, because if you pick three, you could get a red, blue, and green glove. Only when you pick a fourth glove are you -guaranteed- to have a pair.

For the prime number question, I also put none. 3 and 5 are prime, but 3+5+1=9.

@atomicbomb: there is no formula.. but the ques stated "could" be possible...
