December 2007 World History

Map of Africa: pretty sure it's the Gold Coast or C

yes, textiles, arms and somethign else

yes to all on this page basically
and i can confirm that its brazil
(in kaplan)

african leaders- something about people (soldiers, maybe) who fought in the WWII. that's my guess

Can we confirm the US/European universities answer?

i said european universities

west coast africa were the big empires in i forgot what time period

and then they were most helped by reconstruction by arabs

What's the weakness of Byzantine Empire?

Mali- Controlled gold trade?
Nobel Peace Prize Girl- Pushed for nonviolent reforms and democratic rights in Myanmar?

Barron's p338 - "the seeds of leadership had been planted [...] by educated Africans who studied in Western countries became acquainted with Marxist and liberal thought."

i think the weakness was no established way to pass down the throne

Kai - I put the same answers

======================
btw, people posting here, what are your average scores in practice tests? (Barron's/Kaplan/CB)

in general: barrons was good for info, but it felt really wordy. i felt like they could have said every page in 5 concise bullet points.

Byzantine - e) no rule for succession of throne

was what i put

Mali-yup
Nobel peace prize- Aung San Suu kyi, and yes, democracy for Myanmar

around 740 kaplan, 760 collegeboard, 700 barrons
the second practice test in kaplan, the one after the diagnostic test, was hard. but i got A LOT of info from those tests for today that i did not know through studying.

Byzantine empire didn't have a navy to fend off the attacks though...

I put the navy answer...

i put emperor because that was one of the contributions that led to the downfall of the roman empire (26 people claimed the throne)

and no one attacked the byzantines by land
it was all germanic tribes from the north
so i thought it was irrelevant

Was the answer about Hitler and Germany the pacifist movement? It just seemed too easy...

fear of communism is what i put
