DECEMBER 2008 SAT Subject Test: Biology E/M

Photographic memory you say? I used the same book. :p

If only I had fared the same on WH.

barron's was somewhat insufficient

hey what did u guys get for the sagebrush and the red soil/chalk experiment

and do u guys remember the limestone water and seed experiment??

Fair enough. But if I'm not mistaken, I think everything on the test was actually somewhere in the book except for one biome question (I took molecular btw). I'd say that's astounding. :)

huge x2 on the sagebrush +trees+differing soils
i just remember narrowing down and guessing. dont remember questions. actually i put that the trees occupied a narrow niche... ?... trying to think of more

i narrowed down to amino acid and protein sequence and just guessed... think i but protein, lame.

the cross-section of the root was one of the worst ones i could've been asked to identify. neither pr or sn had as detailed of a diagram as the test's

"hey don't worry

i found it medium-hard. and I have a photographic memory. I literally memorized barron's"
well that's consoling

wha? syrius you used the same book? what book?

^ Barron's prep book for SAT II Biology. I think it's the most recent edition.

why is there no quoting here. :(

uhmmm another question was like for the two of the circular dna
was that bacteria or retroviruses??

bacteria..

^ Awesome, if that's truly the answer.

funny i used the barrons book too and the questions on the test didn't show up in there. Did you use the red one?

Ya, it's red and white.

I didn't actually have time to take any of the practice tests if that's what you meant (besides the quizzes after each chapter). I'm referring specifically to the information in the review.

did you solely use the Barron's book for prep or did you combine it with others? I preped using Cliff's AP.

the first girl i spoke to after the test said that it was a piece of cake. that broke me entirely.

Just Barron's. It was so well organized in contrast to my WH prep book. Props to the teacher that wrote it.

I think you'll do fine. The curve, like most of the subject tests, is pretty lenient (or so I hear).

i highly doubt i'll be in the range of 700s. cheers to all of you who did well though. really amazed!

Hmmm... I took Bio-M, but I think I might have grided in Bio-E for code thinking back? W.T.F. should I do?

Is that gonna be a problem?

i took biology the school year before last school year and environmental sci last year
i read the sparknotes guide and took 2/3 practice tests, then read PR and took both practice tests. pretty much crammed everything into the last 2 weeks. ideally i would've taken the last sparknotes practice test and lightly skim both books. however, I don't I would've gained more than 20-30 additional points

what did you guys get for the sagebrush +trees+differing soils and the allele questions?

i think that is a big problem in relation to the marking of the answers for the M section using the E-code :S

"wrong, i'm sorry, i just checked and it was prophase I, exactly what I put!!!!!! "

dude, bigweight, you scared me for a second. the kaplan book couldn't possibly lie to me twice!

I know that I wrote Bio-M under name, but I know CB doesn't use OCR. I'm really not 100% sure either way. Darn.

your best option will be to call them up and find out. hopefully it works out
