December 2009 SAT Chemistry Test

haha it’s ok crazedoutboy, as long as you got the right answer

@mabs Barron’s covers everything and more.

@doctor: It wouldn’t be avogadro x 45 because it asked how many atoms in a MOLECULE (which was underlined) of sucrose, not a MOLE of sucrose. The answer is 45.

Yeah kzhi2u that one tripped me up too. I looked at the question and overanalyzed it but fortunately I ultimately chose 45. Whew :)

There was one question that asks which reaction would yield more product if the container volume is decreased. I chose the one that reacts 5 gas molecules to form 3, since less gas molecules would compensate for the volume decrease.

It was the one with less gas moles on the right side of the equation.

1 mol N2
2 mol O2

The O2 exerts 200 mm Hg of pressure on the container. What is the partial pressure of N2?

The question was something like that, and all the info given is above. I put 100 mm Hg instead of 560 because they did not say anything about it being at STP or having 1 atm. Am I right? Or did I simply need to assume it was at STP?

Gas in a container = no contact with outside environment. I also chose 100mmHg.

As did I. 100mm.

I don’t quite remember, but do you remember the question that stated "which of the following is nonpolar? Or which of the following is the most nonpolar? I’m wondering… Was it “polar” or “nonpolar” ?

I’m fairly certain it was nonpolar.

Yeah I remember a question like that and I remember CCl4 being an answer to one…I think it may be that one. Not 100% sure though.

Strange thing was that tere was also cl2. Which is also nonpolar. Ccl4 was for a different q.

I don’t specifically remember Cl2…hm.

I am not sure. Unfortunately it seemed like multiple answers were nonpolar. And I’m sure it said nonpolar. I also remember co2. So I decided to stick with the diatomic. I’m thinking about writing to ets as I believe they had meant to write “polar” but I’m not sure.

And I also think it said “electronegative” not first ionization. Although I may have also read it wrong. But I could have sworn.

It said first ionization :P

^ the question with polar was asking which had BONDS that were non polar. im pretty sure only the diatomic ones had completely non-polar bonds, so Cl2 was correct

Cool. Thanks coffedrinker. You have saved me of my rant toward ets.

Whats the curve gonna be like?

i think its gonna be like raw score of 79 = 800?

Not sure…what do u think its gonna be?

On some chemsat exams it’s been -12 = 760. It’s fairly lenient curve.

Geez I missed a lot. Hoping for 750+ so we’ll see :X Can’t wait to find out…
