December 2010 - SAT Math 2 Thread

The given root was 2 + i and 3, NOT -2+i as far as I can remember

^ gunster~

hmmm then it does not matter whether the given root was 2+i or -2+i

only thing matter is that the answer has to flip flop the sign infront of the imaginary number but not the realnumber

it is -2+1, i remember it very clearly

as do I remember that it is 2+i. Previous people also have said that it was 2+i.
But yes, only flip the sign before i. I’m almost positive the answer was C though, and Im sure that C was 2-i 0_o

what answer choice was -2+i then? 0_o

I actually think that was A lol.
But I am completely positive that it was 2+i, because I remember I couldn’t tell whether to put the negative sign in front of the whole thing or just i, and I decided on the latter so I put 2-i

weird. i dont tihnk it was A that i put. but im sure i put -2-i

The given root was -2 + i, and the solution was -2 - i.

I hate this test! Last time in October, I arrogantly didn’t study after a successful year of math analysis and ended up only getting a 780 because I forgot a couple of things and didn’t pace myself well enough and so left last 6 questions blank. This, time I’m predicting the same score or possibly the dreaded 790 because I still left 6 blank and I know I missed at least 1. 2 of my omitted, I knew how to solve but somehow didn’t apply my knowledge correctly.

the linear on was $2450 i think

is that the one with the 1050 for 50 people and 1550 for 75?

yes. it is that one.

i got 2450 too

1550 - 1050 / 75 - 50 = slope = 20
y = 20x + b
1550 = 20(75) + b, b = 50
y = 20(120) + 50 = 2450

thats exactly how i did it. ppl were getting $2400 cuz they disregarded that the linear equation has the possibility of shifting up and down

i just took the slope formula to solve it and got 2450

Everybody what is the linear question??i dont remember someone remember the context of problem?

I think it was a price problem.
It was like 20 adults paid $1050 and 75 adults paid $1550 and the amount of money paid is linearly related to the number of adults. How much would 120 adults have to pay

Therefore, as the above posters mentioned, you find slope which is 20, plug back in either point, and find that your y-intercept is 50.

Then, plug in 120 * 20 + 50 to get 2450.

I believe that the answer was E, but I am not sure cause I don’t clearly remember. But yes, the answer was definitely 2450.

^ The answer was 2450 which was Choice B.

The question right after was Sin(sinx)=.3 x was 0.952 which was Choice A.

^^^^ I just set up a proportion. You could have only used one of the given equations.

A few more answers I remember

Center of circle was (2,-1) I think it was Choice B.

y-3=cos(x+3) was also an answer I think it was choice C.

1.10 + pi was also answer I belive it was Choice D.

greatest x intercept was 2.73 something Dont remember what choice.

range was greater than or equal to -1.371 Choice E I think
