December 2014 ACT Discussion Thread

Oh and for the question about the band member who left it has to be the H guy because in the passage it says that the narrator performed with the two guys who start with S. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s what I recall him saying to the Mark guy or whoever the boss was.

anyone remember some of the math questions between 50-60?

Also for the music reading one was the thing that was different about one of the characters is that he was more ambitious?

Did anyone remember answer for honey mass staying same? 40%,50%,60%,80%

I had 72G
English: English and Reading are my always my highest scores; I have not yet received a score lower than 35 on either of them. English might have been a little harder this time around: 34/35
Math: I was able to finish early and go over my answers; I had to guess on two or three questions (the stem-leaf plot, the median). Other than that I thought it was pretty easy: 33/34
Reading: I felt I did the best on this test; it was pretty straightforward and I was able to go over all my answers. 35/36
Science: This test was, to me, the most difficult. I was not sure about some of my answers and did not have much time left over to look them over: 31/32/33
Overall: 33-35
I really want to get a 35, but I feel like I will probably get a 34. I will be really pissed off if i get a 33 because that’s what I’ve gotten the other two times I’ve taken the test.

science diagram question labelled with an ‘n’ and an ‘s’ opposite…were they north/south pole electromagnets?

@cooldude1098 i remeber putting something about him not being condescending towards the other bands because i remember that stood out to the narrator.

@umbreon‌ what’s your strategy for the reading section? I don’t have a problem with accuracy, but timing gets to me and I can’t imagine having enough time to check all the answers again haha

that one was definitely not condescending

maybe im thinking of a different question

I managed to get through all 60 math questions. Did any of you guys get alpha+beta=pi for one of them?

Was b=10 for the last question with f(g(x))=g(f(x))

Thanks

I don’t understand why some people think it’s hard to interpret a stem and leaf plot?

@Dynasty21‌ I believe the right answer was x = 5 but I’m not positive

@Dynasty21‌ ahh yeah it was pi. I goofed and put pi/2.

@marchmattness13‌

Didn’t they ask for the value of b, not x?

@thanksagain‌ i struggled with lack of time last test but this time i just barely finished, the power of skimming

@FriendlyChemist yeah, even if you’ve never seen one before I don’t know how you couldn’t figure out what to do with it.

@Dynasty21‌ i put 10! (may be wrong though)

i thought alpha+beta = 1/2 ? because one of the given angles was 120 so alpha + beta had to = 60 and cos(60)=1/2

@Dynasty21 I got 10 as well
