December 2014 ACT Discussion Thread

@INFINTIEVER Goal is to go to Georgia Tech. Hope I will improve than last time in both the SAT and ACT. I currently have a score of 27 on the ACT and a 1820 on the SAT. Now I’m just waiting for the new scores to come out. I hope I get a 30+ but the science is iffy. Might get a 29 instead. I’m going to work on scholarships during Winter Break. I doubt I’ll get any grants from FASFA unless it’s a private school.

Hey, I am wondering about the same questions and remember them. care to message me in private?

@LRRSNB‌

Are ACT results posted at 12 AM of the day they say or are they posted more around like 6 AM or 7 AM like the SAT?

rn i’m a sophomore so i don’t have TOO much stress on me to finish it once and for all…i got a 2140 on the sat and i’m aiming for a 35 on the ACT and will probably retake SAT up to a 2300. looking at this thread lol i highly doubt i got a 35, most likely a 31-33. the science screwed me over. dream schools are UCLA and georgetown

WashU is my hope and dreams. This ACT can make or break my chances & I’m crossing my fingers for the Danforth scholarship and the University scholars program in medicine. So wanting a good score in the ACT is an understatement. @-) I also doubt I’ll get any money from fafsa or other state aid.

Good luck to you all. Good luck to me too.

We will reconvene on dec. 23

He replaced the guy that started with H

The Science section KILLED me. I was doing so well on the test… I felt confident about every section until the Science. I’m not sure what it was. I lost focus and the wording was difficult to understand, each question was very heavily worded… Hopefully there will be a generous curve. I read somewhere on this thread the last year’s December Science section was also exceptionally hard, and that the curve was very generous.

@kasamias9 how generous?

@Dynasty21‌ I’m not exactly sure. I’m hoping minus 2 or 3 can still be a 36. Here’s the direct quote from user @hawkeye295‌:

“fair warning to all: Last year’s December Science test was difficult. more so than usual. that’s why the “curve” was so nice. the other tests not so much though”

take advantage of or harness the energy from

take advantage of^

damnit I dont get that. I guess all the talking about batteries tripped me up.

It was Shag. The person he told his story to said that he hadn’t been listening to the band in between Shag and someone else, but he did hear that a college student had temporarily joined the band.

@CaptJack‌ the narrator (college student) played with shag and the other guy who’s name starts with S. The H guy was not mentioned, therefore it is assumed he was replaced by the narrator.

I feel great about English. Reading, I feel decent about it. Math - I actually got through all the questions - Maybe a bit better than I was expecting. Science…

@godsgem322 how many times have you written the test?
I feel like I’ve made some stupid mistakes on the math.
English Idk
Reading & science are concerning me.

English and reading were my weakest…English mostly cause I started out tired -.- I took the ACT in September and I thought this science was a lot easier than before… And math felt normal to me.
