Okay, is it just me or was the curve for the december curve pretty lenient? I mean I heard stories of people getting 1 wrong on the CR section and getting 760, but I got that score after getting 4 wrong. And I got a 700 in Math after getting 5 wrong. I mean I was ecstatic with my scores, as I totally didn't expect them. Is the "harsh" curve of these tests exaggerated, or did I just get really lucky this time? I'm wondering as I'm retaking the test this January, and wanted to know if I should be expecting a similar curve. Thanks!

That's a relatively normal curve.

Hey nygirl786, How come u got a 760? I got a 750 with also 4 wrong in CR this December! Like I did not even omit any questions! I got exactly 4 wrong! Is CB messing with me? This is so not fair!

What should I do? Is this normal that some people get lesser scores with the same number of mistakes?

that happened to me with the PSAT though. I got a 750 with only 1 wrong (the grid-in) and no omits. Someone else got 1 m.c. wrong and got a 760.

Does anybody know if the curves are somehow varies directly by month? Im taking it in January and wanted to know if its typically more or less harsh than normal.

I believe that the curve is determined by how ETS feels about the difficulty of the questions. Some people think that it's determined by deviation and the percentiles of people who took it(people think that September-October are hard because all the people taking it have studied during the summer).

nygirl, it's possible that you two took it on different days (saturday vs wednesday) i heard that the wednesday curve was a little more lenient

nah, i took it on Saturday :D

oh well, i just hope that the january curve is similar, if not more lenient. :)

nygirl - historically january curves haven't been too shabby. This past december one was a nice surprise though :) definitely more lenient than what I heard with the november one...

nice! (i might have a chance for 800 on writing after all!:))
do you have any prospects for the March test? or the stats from march last year?

skygirl, the reason your score is different from the topic creators even though you got the same amount of incorrect problems is because points aren't taken off for incorrect grid-ins. One of his that was wrong was probably a grid-in, which would explain the discrepancy in scores.

i'm pretty sure she was referring to her CR score, though.

that sucks...I got a 730 in Math and I got 2 wrong and omitted one (stupid, I know).

so that's a raw score of:
54-3.5= 50.5 --> 51 (which normally is 740+)

Alex,
I was referring to my CR score.

I got 3 wrong in the CR section in the Nov test and got 750...

I'd like my 770, please.

^ i got 3 wrong on Oct 07 and that was a 790...old curves..
