Decent GPA, but low SAT score?

I am a senior in high school and have a 3.9 weighted GPA. Our school doesn’t do unweighted, but I believe my GPA would be a 3.7 if they did. Without studying, my first test was in May and I got a 1140, which I think is really low. I took another one in October and my score dropped to a 1070. I just took the December one, but I am afraid it won’t improve either since I didn’t take any prep classes and studied on my own. I know my parents are disappointed with the scores and I don’t know what to do. I am applying to UVA, Vtech, GMU, JMU, and Penn State. GMU is my safety school, but it wouldn’t be my first choice. For my extracurriculars, I don’t have much. I like doing art as a hobby and am interested in the medical field. I joined the math and art honor society and HOSA. I know UVA and Vtech are my reach schools, so I want to know the chances of me getting in since my parents want me to go to either one of those. What are your thoughts?

First of all, don’t worry! You’ll end up at a great university somewhere and it’ll all work out. I would say apply to both, it doesn’t hurt, but I think you have a better shot at VTech than UVA, simply because UVA is way more strongly competitive for SAT scores.

Thank you so much for your feedback!
