Decent H/SS Courses

Hello all,

I'm pretty lost on choosing good courses to fulfill H/SS requirements. What resources are out there on choosing, beyond Rate My Professor? There are so many courses, and I don't know how to narrow it down.

Do you all have any recommendations? I'm a bioengineering major, possibly transferring into EECS. I have taken AP Lang and passed, so R&CA is done.

Last, what are good series courses? Any good courses that have both lower div and upper div classes?

Thanks for the help!

For the series, you can take two upper division courses.

What kind of H/SS topics are you interested in?

If the interaction between science and engineering and H/SS issues is of interest, consider Bioengineering 100, Energy and Resources Group C100, Engineering 125, History 180-183A, C188A-C192, Interdisciplinary Studies 100D, Political Science C79, Sociology 166-C167. CS H195’s status is unclear; the EECS undergraduate notes says that it can be used as an H/SS course, but the CoE H/SS requirement does not list it as being eligible.

Note that course numbers prefixed with C are cross-listed with another department. These are the same course, but different scheduling buckets for registration purposes (so if one listing is full, check another listing for space).

Interestingly, since the CoE started referring to the various L&S lists, it looks like some math courses can be used: C103, 125A, 135, 160.
