Decided on college major?

How many of you have decided what you want to study? How many of you have no idea and are hoping freshman year helps you decide? For those that are sure, are you keeping in mind of the chance of switching majors?

I’ve wanted to major in biochemistry for a long time now! I could change my mind and switch, but I don’t think I will.

I’m iffy about what I want to do after UG though. I wanted to be a medical research scientist for a while, then I wanted to be a pediatric oncologist, and now I’m thinking about pediatric physical therapy

I’ve known IR since maybe the end of 10th grade.

nursing, because there is no other practical choice.

if I could major in ANYTHING it would be IR probably

Pre Law and Political Science :)

I’m pretty positive that I will be majoring in Pre-Med and Biology or Chemistry.

Did you ever stop and think the outlook on jobs in your career choices? I mean, bio is almost useless unless you go pre-med, etc. Being practical plays a huge role in this too.

I have known since before the beginning of high school…
I want to get a duel-major in neuroscience and psychology… Though since neuroscience is not the most common major I plan to major in biology instead if the school I go to does not offer the major…

Engineering. Where in engineering idk.

economics with a minor in psychology, then business school.
or naval architecture/marine engineering, im undecided.

indeed.

although, there must be a balance of practicality and passion. a lot of people probably think “oh, if I major in nursing i’ll get a job as a nurse,” but one cannot simply be a nurse.

I like to think that people who feel truly passionate about something will find their way, no matter how impractical their major.

except people who major in art history.

Psychology. When I decide what type of psychology I want to do I’ll major in a specific branch and not just in “I can’t think of anything else to major in” psychology. It’ll probably end up being child psychology.
Then I’ll double major in early childhood education and work in that field while I get my psychology doctorate. (In my dreams, probably, but I can try…)
Minor in history.

@Pandamic I’m in the same boat as you! I know I want to major in Human Development but I don’t know exactly what I want to do for grad school! I know it’ll be something in pediatric rehabilitation therapy, but I don’t know if I want to do occupational, physical, or speech therapy. I just can’t decide.
Oh well, I suppose that’s what job shadowing is for!

Umm I want to major in neuroscience and linguistics and either minor in Spanish or compsci! Except the Spanish part all of those subjects are super interesting to me.

Most likely Electrical and Computer Engineering. Where I’m leaning to within that (as in Electrical vs Computer), I’m not sure. I don’t know, circuitry and electronics have always interested me.

Theater! Maybe a minor in urban studies or similar. I know I’m not practical, but it’s what I want.
