I'm deciding between applying to Princeton and Yale, and I'm unsure about what role grade inflation/deflation will play in my application. On one hand, I think I'd do well academically at either school so maybe grade deflation will help me but on the other hand, I'm not quite sure and I don't want to spend my college years freaking out about getting bad grades because of Princeton's rigorous grading policy. Is anyone else concerned about this or have been swayed either way because of inflation/deflation?

For full disclosure: I'll be posting an identical thread in Princeton's forum because I'm torn between the two!

Is your question so you can decide to apply SCEA to one versus the other? If not, then wait until April, and if you’re accepted by both, then decide.

Even if are applying SCEA, coin flip if you can’t decide. It’s not binding. Apply SCEA to one and then RD the other.

Curious though: in earlier threads, you mention that you were accepted to Stanford class of 2016. Are you the same person?

Yale and Princeton have very different vibes. Fit is important. I have three children all liking different college settings. One loved a rural setting, very artsy, music major, while the other two preferred a suburban/city setting.

Make a list of everything that is important to you. This will help you determine which school fits your list best.
