I recently posted specifically about Lafayette and received great advice but wanted some advice on my decision more broadly.
I’m trying to decide between TCNJ, Lafayette, Quinnipiac, Fairfield, and Fordham. I’m interested in English and art programs. I do not know what my top choice is- I like all of them.
Fortunately money is not an issue for me. But fwiw, I received merit scholarships from Quinnipiac and Fairfield. I liked Quinnipiac a lot, but since they are not well known for English, I am not sure if the close-knit English department would be a good thing or a bad thing.
Fairfield sounds so great to me, but when I’m there I just don’t feel it. Not sure if I should give it another chance at admitted students day.
I liked Lafayette and Fordham a lot, but I’m not sure if I want to spend that much even though I can afford it. (Because I don’t have a clear/high salary career path in mind).
I also liked Tcnj but not sure if I’d be limiting myself too much since I could realistically afford the other schools.
(I also got into Drew with scholarship but think it might be too small/limiting.)
Any advice on which school I should choose? Thanks in advance for all advice!!
No brainer—— TCNJ all the way. Shouldn’t even be a debate. It’s the best value of all the schools you mention. Great campus, a very happy place and the cheapest of all the schools you mention
Lafayette and Fordham will stretch you far more intellectually than the other schools, plus you’ll have a better peer group. I would think the off-campus opportunities in NYC would be amazing for you. This is too important a choice. Since you have the money, don’t hesitate to pick the best environment - one in which you will flourish during your college years. Good luck and congratulations!
Congrats, Fordham has a huge alumni in NYC which affords extra opportunities for internships, doors being opened. You couldn’t ask for a better Art city then New York. Agree that Drew is to small and will limit opportunities. Wasn’t impressed with the campus and buildings seemed to be run down. Fairfield was a real nice campus, great area but I also didn’t feel the college vibe. TCNJ is a good school and ranks up there for top value every year. Ewing/Trenton isn’t the greatest of college towns and you’ll be going to school with 80% Jersey kids which lends itself to many students heading home on weekends. Good luck with your decision and beyond.
