Was anybody deciding between UCLA and USC? I was admitted to UCLA for the Fall Quarter, but admitted to USC for the Spring semester, meaning instead of starting in August, I'd start in January.

Anyways, for those who decided, what were your reasons for choosing UCLA over USC? Exclude price and costs as a factor.

Well, I never considered USC (mainly due to price, which you said to exclude), but I can say that I can't even imagine waiting until january to start school when all of your friends will be half-way done with their freshman year.

Really it just comes down to visiting both and deciding which one you like more. The campuses have two very different "feels".

UCLA's campus is beatiful. It's much more spread out then USC, and really feels like a University. USC on the other hand, while pretty, is really packed in. It just didn't give me the same vibe as UCLA.

The neighborhood around USC, for lack of a better word, sucks. Its dangerous, theres not much to do, and its ugly. UCLA on the other hand is in a great college town (Westwood) and theres tons of stuff to do. Crime is virtually non-existent, and you can be out at any hour of the day and feel safe. UCLA kids hang out by UCLA ... USC kids? They hang out by UCLA also.

I've visited USC many times in my life most recently today. I don't know why anybody would choose to go there instead of UCLA!

The neighborhood is awful and constantly congested, there is even traffic on sundays. Around UCLA we have trees and greenery and beauty, and its pretty quiet on weekends as far as congestion goes.

USC It's got major class/race division between student body and surroudning area. Students pay rent that matches or exceeds our westwood rents to live in run down tiny apartments in SOUTH CENTRAL. The dorms are all falling apart and have cracks and holes everywhere. You might complain about ucla's triples, but most of our dorms are at least fancy and new
