Deciding my Senior Year schedule

Hello,

Thank you in advance for any response.

I am currently organizing my class schedule for this upcoming senior year, trying to organize it based on what I want, but also what would look good for upcoming college applications.

It currently stands as:
AP Calculus
AP Spanish
AP Literature
AP Government / Econ
ROP Graphic Design
Ceramics Aide

The ceramics aide is what I’m tough about. I dropped my AP Biology class because I really love ceramics and was hoping to get into Ceramics 2, but these other classes do not allow that. Therefore, my only other option to be involved in the ceramics program was become the teachers aide for his ceramics 1 class. I love the teacher, and am very passionate about ceramics. However, do you believe it would be better for me to ask my teacher if I could do “independent studies” ceramics 2? This would not give me the classroom experience I desire, but I want to know what soon to be colleges would like to see.

I plan to apply this fall to the main UC’s (UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCD, UCSD) and also USC, maybe another private or two.

My unweighted GPA is about 3.85 and weighted is 4.25

SAT first time in June was 1850 but I plan on increasing that to the 2000s this October

I hold student government positions (ASB vide-president this year) and also hold positions in clubs such as biology club, multicultural club, etc.

I do sports, and this summer I took a political science class at UCSC (got a B in it), and did a spanish immersion for a week.

I guess what I’m asking is, will this ceramics class really make an impact on my college applications to the schools listed above depending on if I become an aide or do it Independent studies style?

Again, thank you for your feedback.

Being a teacher’s aid isn’t really a common opportunity, though it seems fairly simple at your school. Be an aide and you can spin it really well in your favor - applied and chosen to help teach a class, passion for the arts, etc.
