Deciding on appeal: UCLA

<p>I've been struggling with the idea of appealing my UCLA decision after being rejected from Economics, but accepted into Latin American Studies. I have won awards and have unexplained circumstances for one B during my fall of 2010 that are new, but unsure on compelling. But I would just like to hear if anyone thinks my case is close to strong enough to have the possibility of winning.</p>

<p>Stats:
GPA:3.76
Major: Economics
EC's: A lot
Essays: I thought they were good, but unsure now.</p>

<p>NEW STUFF:
I won two awards at a community college research conference.

<p>I won both an Outstanding Abstract and a grant from UCI to continue research.</p>

<p>On another note, during my fall semester I commuted to school by bus, which under normal circumstance is not compelling, but I attending two community colleges one about an hour and a half bus ride away from home, there and back, stealing hours out of my day by draining my energy (waking up at 5:00 am can take its toll). Meanwhile, I was taking a full course load with Calculus (My one B) and three honors classes and some spanish.</p>

<p>Oh I forgot to add another small detail on my app, I was an Economics tutor.</p>

<p>Any honest evaluation is appreciated, I can get two letters from professors in no time, (One from UCLA and another an Economics). I would just like if I am throwing away my time. </p>

<p>I got in as an BizEcon major. I think a big part of my acceptance was my being an econ tutor paid by my ccc. They want EC’s related to your major, right? So I’d say that’s very important that the admissions people know that you tutored econ, which means that you must know your stuff. Good luck.</p>

<p>i would said the main part for me to got into BizEcon is GPA basis… Both of my frd had GPA 3.9 and got into Biz Econ… we both lacking EC and moderate Essay</p>

<p>no its not worth it…my friend have a gpa of 3.9 and he got rejected…which school you got accepted to???</p>

<p>UCSD, UCLA (Latin American Studies), UCD and waiting on Cal</p>

<p>Weird I had a friend with a 3.67 and 3.58 get in this year, of course they had all pre-reqs done plus taking calculus 3 for UCSD. They had tag like me as well. Funniest part is neither is going, they are heading to UCSD…I envy them both. </p>

<p>Was your friend business-economics or economics?</p>

<p>I don’t know anything about LA econ but can’t you change your major once you are at the school?? it not then I would either keep the major you have or go to a school that accepted for as an econ major.</p>
