deciding to apply

At first, I really wanted to go to Cornell, I sent in Part one and the fee in the summer, but now, everything I am hearing about it is negative. I go to a really good high school, where competition is cutthroat and there are a ridiculous number of qualified candidates for Ivies and other top schools. I really do not know if I want to apply Cornell anymore, because I do not want to go to a school with the same environment. Even in the CAS viewbook, all the kids interviewed talked about their insane amounts of work and the competition. Since we are limited to seven schools, should I use one to apply to Cornell? And how true are all these rumors?

If you dont expect any Ivy or top tier school to be competitive, then i dont know what college you're looking for. Yeah, Cornell is competitive, and yeah, it's a lot of work, but college is what you make of it. There will be parties, and there will be things to do, even if its rural.

I'm not sure why you want to go to college if you're not willing to do work.

i asked my interviewer for cornell about the workload and competition. she said that really the engineering school is the only one with cutthroat competition for grades and it is definetly the one with the most work. the college isnt nearly that hard. the difficulty and competition within the engineering school is apparently what gives the entire university that reputation.

thanks bartoastt for answering my question
