I'm a junior transfer student at UCSB majoring in biopsychology and I am considering a career in medicine, but don't know whether it would be the right fit for me. Basically, I love to learn and question everything, and I have a very scientific mind. I think I would enjoy being a doctor (I love children and would love to be a pediatriction, though also love animals and veterinary medicine is also an option), however, personality-wise I don't know what to think. I am introverted and while I can be a people-person, it tends to be wearing. I have no problem working hard and enjoy challenging myself. I also have a range of interests beyond the sciences and need some sort of creative outlet, and am easily bored with routine work. Many people have told me to be an architect, but at this point I feel like I have come too far in one direction. Basically, I am hoping for some feedback on what other people (doctors or med students would be great) think of my qualities fitting in with a career in medicine.

By the way, I have considered going to medical school for quite some time, but have discarded the idea in the past based on the fact that I want to have children and be able to raise them myself. As time goes by however, I see children in the distant future and no longer a basis for whether to enter medical school or not. In addition, I would rather be able to provide a comfortable home for my children rather than having children sooner.
