Decision date

I heard the official was MArch 29th at 5 pm. Is that 5 eastern or central?

5pm eastern

yep eastern time, so for west coasters like myself, that will happen during school time!! i guess ill have to race home and find out

all ivies same time: 3/29 5PM EST

be warned, though, that your decision may arrive on time but may also take from 30 minutes to several hours after the 5pm release time to arrive to your mailbox.

nah, they mail out decisions on the 29th, so it'll take a LONG time to get to my mailbox. i'm using online for all of my decisions.

No, he's saying that depending on your email provider the message might take awhile to get there.

GMail should pull through.

It doesn't have to do with your provider- I use gmail and got several of the messages (including Harvard's) an hour or two late.

isn't there a way to check them online instantly, as with other ivies?

Not for Harvard (at least there wasn't last year).

they send out so many emails that it takes a while to for them all to be sent... think when you send a few emails from outlook... it takes a while...its the same for them... at least thats my impression.

really? hmmm, so if i live in texas, it'll get here around 3:10 pm on 3/29. gotcha.

ohhhhh noooooooo...... the waiting begins again, it feels like we just went through this for EA in January..... I don't think my heart can take it! ( or the "refresh" button on my computer!)

yeah. so basically it takes them awhile to send them out then.

I hope there is some sort of online notification system!

It's VERY likely that it will be longer, possibly much longer, than ten minutes. From what I can tell, the average waiting time is maybe 45 minutes (I got it a little over an hour later).

It could arrive right away, though- there's no way to tell (and it has no relationship to acceptance or rejection).

yes, if your e-mail doesnt arrive instantly(mine didn't), you can go to the admitted students page. There, you type in your info, hit enter, and pray to God it takes you to the page which says, "Welcome to the class of 2011!"

Paulfin- nice trick.

^agreed. never thought of that before

On the other hand, paulfin- last year the admitted students page for RD was only up the next day.

Does the title of the email give away the decision?
