Decision Day-April 11th- Any Comments or Feedback?

Anyone attend the Decision Day yesterday? How was it? Did it sway you one way or the other? Any feedback or comments would be helpful to others. Anyone going next Saturday?

I went to Decision Day yesterday and felt that it finalized my decision to go to UD. One of the biggest eye openers for me was the Biological Sciences Information Session. I loved hearing about what classes I would be taking, how I could live in George Read as part of the Biology LLC, and hearing personal experiences from graduating seniors. Most of the colleges that I have visited have put a small emphasis on pre-dental studies and dental school. I really liked hearing about this for once (the speaker was a pre-dental advisor I believe). The only bad thing about the day was the financial aid session. We spent almost 90 minutes waiting in a room to be called for a private meeting before deciding to walk up to a financial aid representative who was standing in front of the room to ask him our questions instead. The rest of my day consisted of walking around and getting a feel for the campus. I finally bought some college apparel to make things official, and I ate lunch at Cheeburger Cheeburger, which was amazing. So for me, Decision Day helped me to fall in love with UD. It looks like I’m going to be a Blue Hen next fall!

We are going on the 18th. Still waiting to receive the agenda. @FutDent55 Congrats on your decision! What time does the day wrap up? What other sessions were offered?

@ProudNYMomma Thank you! You will receive an email that will tell you where on campus you will need to park and check in. You will receive a paper with all of the events going on as well as a sticker that will go on that paper which has your name, major, and what building/room your information session is in. We checked in around 8:45 (since the email said to arrive before 9:00) only to find out that the information sessions for specific majors wouldn’t be until 10:00. Luckily they had breakfast for everyone so we just ate and talked to pass the time. All of the events on the itinerary seemed to end around 2. Sessions included financial aid help, club/organizations on the green, campus tours, honors college info, residence life info, and quite a bit more.

We had a good time. My son and I arrived at 8:30 to a tremendous line to check in. The line moved quickly and we were thankful it was not raining. We attended the session for University Studies which answered a lot of our questions. It was very well done. From there, we walked around the campus which is just beautiful. The new freshman dorm is almost completed and looks great. We also spoke with some of the representatives from the business school and they were helpful. The only downside was that it was really windy which made it a little chilly and we felt bad for the kids wrestling with their tablecloths outside.

My son is 99% sure he is going to commit to UD. We just have another school to visit which I don’t think stands a chance. This place just feels right (sigh of relief).

It looks like it is going to be great for the Decision Day this Saturday. It is supposed to be sunny with temp’s in the mid 70’s. You couldn’t ask for better weather. I would recommend for those who have not done so already to take a walk down Main Street so you can see all the eateries available (for just about all tastes) and also visit the bookstore. Many students spend a lot of their time socializing and studying in these restaurants. Klondike Kates is the prototype of a college pub restaurant and a few years ago Newark Deli and Bagels was identified as the number one eatery of its type from all college campuses in the country. Also it would be great to get some feedback from those who will be attending the UD in DC Program presentation. Have a great time.

It was a great day, the weather cooperated, upper 70’s and sunny! We arrived shortly before 9 as requested in the email however the first scheduled event was at 10 (Academic presentations), we wandered around the Trabant center and planned our schedule for the day. We attended D’s info session (Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management) which was very helpful and are pleased that it sounds like an awesome program. We also received a tour of Vita Nova (student run restaurant). We then walked over near Perkins Center, as D wanted to do the residence hall tour. On our way there, we noticed tables set up in a section of the green. It looks like they may have been student clubs/organizations but most of them were already breaking down for the day. Wish we had known earlier, as we could have walked around there between 9-10. After residence hall tour, D wanted to go to the book store to cash in the $20 gift card we received when we checked in that morning. We then attended the special session for those admitted for the spring semester; it was very helpful and a lot of our questions were answered. Overall it was a great day and we are very excited that are D will be a Blue Hen!

@ProudNYMomma I wasn’t aware of a special spring admit session. Wish I knew! Can you elaborate on that a little more? How was it? What did they go over? Is your daughter admitted spring of 16? That’s the case with my son and I would’ve loved to attend that info session.

@NWCTdad Yes, my daughter was admitted spring 2016 with fall waitlist option, which she also opted for. She also opted for Delaware in DC but it was closed by the time she replied. We learned about the session when she received her email with the schedule for decision day this past Thursday; its really unfortunate you did not know about it. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have, would be willing to call you if you’d like, please let me know. They talked about classes the kids can take this fall, orientation, move in date, housing, etc.

@ProudNYMomma that would be great if you wouldn’t mind calling me. I just sent you a message with my number, thanks!
