hey alexandre i have another question for u... i am in a great dilemma right now deciding what to enrol in. I got into UIUC liberal arts and sciences school but rejected from the business school. So i have to do two years of liberal arts and then apply to the business school again in junior year. I plan on applying to both Michigan's business school and UIUC's business school at the end of sophomore year. But i also got into Indiana University. They offered me direct admission to their Kelley school of business AND honors college. And finally i got accepted to Purdue's Krannert School of Management. So if i go to Indiana or Purdue, I can go straight into the business school and take business courses first year, but for UIUC id be taking two years of liberal arts but then applying to Michigan's business school junior year and UIUC's business school. What is better...to go directly into one of the two direct admission business schools or doing 2 years of liberal arts and go to a much better business school and a much better college like UIUC or michigan.

I would pick Indiana's B school over Purdue's or UIUC. Its Business program is rated higher, its campus is more beautiful and the town of Bloomington is more pleasant and fun than West Lafayette or Urbana Champaign.

I would pick Michigan's over all of them, but as you know, Michigan is a risk because they only accept top students within the university and competition can be pretty stiff. If you know you can maintain a 3.5+ GPA at Michigan, go for Michigan. Otherwise, I recommend you go to Indiana. Forget about Purdue and UIUC.

One thing you can do, if you get into Michigan, is to take Summer classes (they begin in late June/early July) in either introduction to Economics and Calculus. If you get high grades, hand around...otherwise, enroll in Indiana. Or, if you do not mind majoring in Economics if you do not get into the B School, go for Michigan anyway.

but UIUC is a more respected school as a whole and i wanted to ask whether it looks better if you came out of IU honors or UIUC b-school becuase i heard IU is very easy.

ParamDog, UIUC is slightly more respected than Indiana, but we aren't talking night and day. It would be like picking Harvard over Cornell for Engineering. Sure Harvard has a slightly better reputation, but Cornell is clearly better in Engineering.

In terms of the quality of the student bodies, Illinois does have a slight edge, but the B School at Indiana will not be easy.

alright thanx a lot alexandre for answering my questions quickly and you have helped me alot. i will have to make some decisions in the near future and ill keep u updated on what happens :)
