thanks.

All of the above.

what you want to do (this is what our s did last year), is stay up on december 2 and at midnight (actually logon before that), login and go to the housing page, not the decision page. we found that by doing this, you are able to get a good housing priority number and find out if you are accepted at the same time. obviously, if you are able to signup for housing, then you are a Nole.

our s got priority number 6. if you go to the admission decision page or wait until the morning of december 3 to check, the housing numbers will already be in the hundreds.

Also, last year, late in the day before decisons were due to come out, if you logged into your account, went to blackboard and checked to see if any fees were due, many students had an admission deposit due (indicating acceptance), before the decisions were actually available. not sure if they will do this again.

I hope all of you who have applied and have FSU as their top choice, get accepted. our s loves it and it has turned out to be the perfect place for him.

good luck and Go Noles! Especially this thursday night against NC.

Ahhh. I remember being up at 11:59pm pressing refresh OVER AND OVER again. Scary. =|

We too did the midnight thing. We had 2 computers so one was checking housing and the other admissions. We got housing first and got a great priority number. It is worth staying up and getting a housing number. Admissions was a harder site to get and it took over an hour to get confirmation there.

Yes, check at about 5-6 pm on the 2nd by going to the application status page and clicking "fees" and if there is an admission deposit due YOU ARE IN. If there is not, it does not mean that you are not in though. Then check for the official notification just after midnight early on the 3rd. If you can't get into the admission status page, go to housing and if you can sign in and sign up DO IT and get a low number.

Wait, so you apply for housing at FSU after you are accepted?

Because for UF you apply right after submitting the application. I am so confused.

If I am waiting til February 15th for the UF decision, should I apply for housing at FSU and get a priority number and all that if I get accepted in December?

UF and FSU housing policies are different. several days after you submit your application for UF, you can apply for housing priority. I believe this small fee is non refundable and a nice source of extra revenue for UF, considering the number of apps it receives.

FSU, on the other hand, only gives those who are accepted an opportunity to get a housing priority number.

it is important (if you want to get a good housing priority number) that you apply for housing at the time you gain admission to fsu.

This is not mandatory, but it certainly pays off. it is important to note that if you applied for summer c session 2009, then you will need to apply for a housing priority number for the summer session sometime in January/February.

the housing priority number you get initially (when you get accepted), is for the Fall 2009 term and this number stays with you for all four years if you choose to stay on campus.

Also, if you are planning to room with a friend from high school (some think this is good, others disagree), then you need to make sure your friend also gets a good priority number. otherwise, when you both apply for housing and request each other as roommates, the housing office will use the housing priority number that is the worst between you. So for example if you get housing priority number 100 and your friend gets housing priority number 900, then the housing office will place the two of you in a dorm based upon the 900 priority number.

Here is information on this past Falls fees and dates. So you have to pay to get the priority number and complete the agreement. But if you choose not to attend you will get most of it back depending on when you notify them you will not be attending. The lower the number the better the chance that you will get the dorm of your choice or at least one of them. The room assignments go by the highest of the pair if you put on the agreement that you want to be with a particular person. NYCOLLEGEDAD is giving great advise to talk to your freinds and be sure they get low numbers as well. They fill the dorms with Seniors and work down to Freshman and then go by priority number. You keep the same number so it helps beyond just the freshman year if you want to stay in the dorms.

You will be required to submit a $225 prepayment after you have successfully completed the agreement process. If you do not submit the required prepayment within 10 calendar days of applying for Housing, the agreement will be cancelled.

D. REFUND POLICY/INITIAL SEMESTER

1) If written notice of decision not to be enrolled at Florida State University is received PRIOR to the official opening date of the residence halls, a refund of all fees paid will be made LESS:

• $50 if cancellation is received through May 1

• $75 if cancellation is received May 2 through July 1

• $100.00 if cancellation is received July 2 and prior to the official opening date of the residence halls.

Okay, I think I got it. So I will apply for housing immediately if I get accepted, and if I decide I want to go to another college later on, I can get a refund. Good to know. :)

I strongly recommend applying for housing immediately before (unless they fixed this ;)) / after gaining admission. Get the best housing priority number you can.

Good luck to all applicants!

Go 'Noles!

I just did a cursory view of the housing page. I would suggest everyone thoroughly read the housing pages and be prepared beforehand. I didn't realize how detailed it would be. You don't want to be caught on Dec. 2 at 11:55pm trying to hurriedly read through this information!

You can always change your housing agreement if you change your mind later but it is important to submit it and get a priority number.

Yes, the dorms you pick DO NOT MATTER the night you try to get a priority number. You just fill it out and submit. You can go back until about APRIL and change things like dorm selections, roommate selection etc.

I assume getting a priority number less than 10 is real good :)

Darn slow Authentication Servers....

Pretty sure d1 got a 14 and d2 got a 9, but as long as you get your dorm it's a good number.

did you ever get in
