anyone else obsessively checking their emails?

^ I’ve been doing that since early march. =(

Yeah its still possible that its tomorrow, but I doubt it. I know that UChicago emailed us at the exact time that the decision was up on our website though rather than days before, but Duke seems to have a different history.

Why can’t they just tell us an exact date like the Ivies! haha

Did Duke send out an e-mail of the decision date for RD last year?

i wrote in my calendar that they should come out on monday the 28th because of last year’s pattern, when they were apparently released on the last monday of the month.

good luck to everyone!!!

I hope it’s today!!! Anyone hear that it’s for sure NOT today?

I highly doubt it’s today, though, as we would have probably recieved notification!

April 1st!

^rose U sure?!

No, rose isn’t sure. No one actually knows when decisions are going to be out because Duke hasn’t announced it yet. We’ll get an email (sometime soon) and then we’ll know the date. Until then, I’d say the closest thing that we have to an answer is the kid who’s guidance counselor says it’ll be the 28th.

Excuse me, but I am sure. My best friend got accepted ED and our other friend has gotten signs of sure acceptance and both the admissions officers they’ve talked to told them to look for it on April 1st.

Look, Rose, I’m not trying to insult you and I’m sorry that I did. It’s just that we’ve been hearing so many different dates from so many different ‘reliable’ sources. It’s basically impossible to really know what’s going on until the school makes an official statement. I remember waiting for EA notification last december and hearing at least 3 different dates from people who had apparently spoken with admissions officers.

I’m no stranger to how you feel, I am an UMICH EA OOS deferee who still hasn’t heard a decision after applying 7months ago. But as far as all sources I’m aware of, and they’re reliable sources to me, April 1st is the date.

april 1st…does ANY school even do april 1st anymore??

plus, why would they give the Ivies a 2 day jump on courting all the admittees who overlap with Duke? that would be silly.

Allgood- we’ve wondered the same thing!

I called Duke admissions yesterday and they told me that it’s by April 1st but still haven’t committed to a date. If I had to guess, and it’s only a guess, it would not be on April 1st. Like everyone else, doubt they would be 2 days after the ivies.

Saying April 1st is simply risk management, as that’s the last possible day. Until they know for sure, they throw that date around, because it would be a problem for them if they promised the decisions earlier and were then unable to fulfill that promise.

Like many others have said, it would make little sense for Duke to give the Ivies a head start (as the Ivies are a strong competitor for the students Duke will accept), so they will probably release decisions on or before March 30th.

I too am waiting for a RD letter from Duke University. I applied to three schools, and of those three, two have their decision release date as “before April 1st”. Honestly, I believe that Duke and the other school need to quote on quote “get with the times” per se. In this day and age, I think Duke misses out on alot of good students. 75% of everyone I know that is a graduating Senior knows where they are attending already.
However, I’ve already “enrolled” in my first choice and frankly, getting into Duke was simply a “let’s see if I could have done it” thing. As an immediate resident of the Triangle, there is no way I would be happy in the atmosphere and social environment that is Duke.

^If you’ve already enrolled, shouldn’t you rescind your application? It’s unfair to that one person they wouldn’t accept if they accepted your application.
