I think it’s Monday. Most schools say “by April 1st”, but Duke clearly says end of March.

Yeah definitely Monday or Tuesday. We didn’t get anything today yet. Why not tomorrow though?

My son just heard back from Wake Forest. He’s been accepted to Wake, UNC, NC State and Pitt. Duke is his dream school and my nightmare school, (COST), should he get accepted. Good luck to all that are waiting!

Congrats to him! Davidson is a terrific NC uni as well. I’m stoked to hear from Duke too!

Metakirby, if that is indeed the truth, I agree with undecided11. I’m sure you are quite happy where you are if you’ve enrolled already, so don’t deprive another applicant that deserves duke. Don’t go trophy-hunting. Didn’t your college admissions counselor ever tell you that?

Decisions come out next Wednesday at 6pm. Heard it straight from the Dean of Admissions’ mouth (I’m at BSAI right now).

wow, surprised that they are releasing an hour after some ivies. seems like a dumb decision on their part.

Thanks so much for the update nne718!

As strange as it sounds, it’s relaxing just to have that information.

^^ How’s it dumb? I don’t see how it makes a difference.

^ Happy to help!

All right, cool. Glad it’s one of the last uni’s to notify!

Yeah I’m here right now at Duke for BSAI. When Dean G (don’t know how to spell his name) came and talked to us to tell us we were all accepted, he himself said that the decision release date to be Wednesday March 30 at 6pm, so that’s the official date! He also said the acceptance rate this year was 15%…yikes! Good luck guys (:

anyone else looking forward to a triple+ rejection within an hour on Wednesday? o_O

ok maybe that’s a bit negative…maybe some of those of us who get bad news from the Ivy’s will be somewhat pacified by Duke soon after.

@TangentQueen Is the acceptance rate really 15%? Is that for RD or in total?

Last year’s RD rate was 13%, so it just seems odd that the acceptance rate would increase if the number of total apps also increased.

@lutherjw: it isn’t odd. Many schools have expanded their classes for this year because they knew ahead of time to anticipate higher application rates. Remember that we were all born 17-18 years ago, so colleges had plenty of time to watch the news and hear about the baby boomers having so many children (grandbaby boomers?), then subsequently plan on how to slowly grow class sizes.

Yes I’m positive it’s 15%…if the Dean came here and said it himself idk why you would question his word.

Wednesday seems so far away!

Duke applicants:

So fare 7 of my 9 schools have released early. In almost every case, some “official word” came out about a date and each time it was released sooner. I think the schools have a policy not to tell anyone the exact time. (I actually think they send out false info to keep activity on their server down!) Just keep checking and it will pop up SOON!

Still Waiting…

Biomedical Engineering

Go biomedical engineering!

Duke is one of my top couple choices… ohmygoodness wednesday…
As Vandy’s acceptance rate is also 15% this year and I got in as a Cornelius Vanderbilt scholar, I would normally be pretty calm about Duke’s upcoming decision, but WashU rejected me unexpectedly so ehhh… I’m pretty nervous about Duke, especially with it being the first college I’ll hear about that I’m sort of emotionally attached/ really really want to go to… haha. /:

I got rejected by MIT, Northwestern, and Rice, and waitlisted by WashU. Duke is my dream school but I don’t know if I can get in anymore T_T
