As you all know, my daughter was trying to decide between USC and Santa Clara University. After visiting both in April, she has chosen Santa Clara. It's hard for us to let go of USC because truthfully we thought she would get an outstanding education there. BUT after the visits, she felt is was just too big, and she is the one going to college, not us. My gut is that if she had gotten into honors or Capstone, she'd be there....but she didn't. After visiting CA with her last week, I knew that was her choice. So...for all of you who are going...please keep me in your loop. I'll be looking forward to hearing how your kiddos are enjoying Columbia and all it has to offer your college students...and I'm a bit sorry we won't be there for the sharing.

Sorry we wont get to meet you and D on Aug 19!
But I'm sure your D made the choice thats right for her.
Will keep you in the loop about all things Gamecock!

Thumper1 - Please keep us posted as well. I have a sophomore who may be looking at Santa Clara soon. We'd love to hear your impressions after the first semester. Gotta love California..( my old home)
Good Luck!

Echoing others, sorry we won't be meeting up in August but best wishes to D. As I told you my D's best friend since age 4 is heading to Santa Clara as well. Perhaps we can arrange to have them visit via email or IM before they head west.

Keep us posted on her experience. Take care.

eadad, I'd love to have info for DD about another non-Californian. You can send me an email about that one. My guess is that they will meet anyway...the school isn't all that big. I will say to you all....the first time we visited USC, I (the mom) was very taken aback that my daughter would be attending a college that had the slogan "Go *****"....I suspect their football team is going to be GREAT this year!!!

LOL....it is a bit "interesting" shall we say (read disarming, uncomfortable etc....) from this dad's perspective to see his daughter wearing a shirt that proclaims ***** in four inch letters!

EADAD
LOL
I wouldn't let S buy that shirt(didnt think his HS administration would be too understanding),he settled for a plain USC shirt and hat for the time being, which he wears constantly. It is funny to see all the **** shirts on males and females on campus. I'm sure it will be S's first purchase either during Orientation or move in.
