I just wanted to see who has made decisions so far on where they will be going. I auditioned at Roosevelt, DePaul, CCM Drama, AADA, and NYCDA. I was accepted to all except was waitlisted at DePaul. Roosevelt offered me a scholarship of 17,000 per year in addition. However I sent in my slip saying I didn't need to be informed of a spot on the waitlist at DePaul and rejected Roosevelt because my top choice has been CCM Drama. I think it's an amazing up and coming program that offers so much opportunity that other schools don't match. I'm very excited :) Has anyone come to any conclusions about where they will be going in the fall?

My son is headed to Cal Arts...it was his #1

My D was accepted to UCLA school of theatre!

congrats to your D IanJoseph!!!!

congrats everyone! in at NYU Fordham and Minnesota/Guthrie BFA and still waiting to hear from syracuse.
no idea what im going to do.

CBRown... my D was accepted to CCM Drama too... what's your thoughts on the program?

Chrissyblu, have you and your daughter visited CCM? I have heard from a friend who lives fairly close by that one area around UCincinnati is very rough. If you visited, what did you think of the environs?

Chrissy.....letsfigureitout's son is a freshman in that program. You should talk to her.

I heard that... no, we haven't gone, but they just upped my D's Cincinnatus scholarship to $5,000 a year because we are out of state. She looked at the webpage and was impressed, and we are starting to think we will go and see the campus in April during our "journey."

I've gotten into Syracuse, UNCSA, and Pace so far.
Denied from Depaul, Purchase, and Ithaca.
Waiting on NYU, BU, and USC.

No idea what to do... but at least I'm going somewhere. Its an honor to get into any of these programs.

if anyone has recommendations, I would greatly appreciate them

THANKS

Good luck to everyone

Nick, you already have an embarrassment of riches on your hands with those school acceptances! Very different programs, all of them! Syracuse is a conservatory program within a really fine university and will require you to take some liberal arts courses. NCSA is a pure conservatory, so the academics you have to take won't be very demanding or at a very high level, reportedly. (I apologize that I don't know much about Pace, other than they have a good musical theater program.) Enjoy the process of choosing! Have you visited these schools?

to get into any of these programs.. So I didn't really spend the money I don't have to go visit the schools

I thought if I got accepted I'd go visit.

One of my best friends goes to Pace for Spanish so I've been there a lot
haven't really gotten a good sense of there program though

Going to Syracuse on tuesday
and going to NCSA in april

I have no idea where to start... guess Ill have to visit

Hi all,
The DePaul thick package arrived today for D. Cried and did happy dance. Still waiting for others, but life feels very sweet tonight, and this weekend...

Congrats to your daughter Mother of GG. I wanted to comment on Cincinnati, Ohio. I didn't go to the campus of either of the two schools, but went a variety of places. I went there last summer and we were on our way to Cedar Point. Cincinnati was very slummy and a very dirty city when we went there. We were going to go to the zoo, but it was too crowded. The area around the zoo was very disgusting, no offense to anyway. I'm from the suburbs from Florida and Georgia so it was different, but I have also been to other places like WY, CO, KY, MO, SD, NY, NC, VA, TN, SC, Penn, WV, etc. Columbus, Ohio was so much nicer. The zoo was amazing and would love to live there and was the best place we went to in Ohio. Sandusky, Ohio was a lot different and well I wouldn't be there in the winter. It was 60 degree's in July, too cold for me. Anyway, there is a lot to do in Ohio though. We went to the Amish Country which there isn't much to do, but it cool to see a different life style. Cedar Point is great and I know they have King's Island in Cincinnati. We didn't go there though. Columbus isn't that far away and has lots of things to do there. I would mention that KY isn't that far away. When you enter Cincinnati you just enter the Ohio border. We came from KY anyway... KY has lots of things to do too and lots of shops. Cincinnati was an older city compared to other parts of OH. I don't know about the campus, but the city itself wasn't great. The pizza we has was so bad and my mother makes better pizza. We come from an Italian family, so that may be why. Though, Papa Johns was better than where we went. We went to a Wal Mart outside of the city and it seemed nice. There also seemed like there was a lot of Indian food which you may like. They had a swimming center outside of the city which seemed nice. The people there a little weird to me. It may just be the lifestyle, but in Columbus the people seemed MUCH friendlier. Indiana and Illinois are not that far either, but we didn't go to either place. Just my thoughts, hoped I helped.

My son has been offered admission at Carnegie Mellon, CalArts, UCLA (BA program), UNCSA, Evansville & OU so far. Any thoughts on which is best to become a professional actor? Or pros & cons?

Pros for UCLA are:
- Theater-Acting program is rated as one of the best
- Top range university so excellent academics
- BA program so wider education prospects and you can always use the BA degree for further education prospects
- Access to Hollywood and exposure to film and TV
- Cross pollination with film and TV programs
- Contacts you will make who will graduate to work in Hollywood
- Very large university
- Great campus
- Great weather, this is SoCal
- Cheaper tuition if you are a CA resident

Cons for UCLA are:
- Not a BFA conservatory program so more focus on academics
- The acting program only starts in your sophomore year
- Very large university

hagenbuch.... My D has been accepted to UCLA and CalArts as well (also CCM and Emerson). Haven't heard from NYU or CMU or NCSA yet. I'd be interested to see what your thoughts are on those schools.

chrissyblu - reply: I am very new to this - so take it with grain of salt - my son knows a lot more. I know UCLA's BA is one of top and Carnegie & CalArts are among the top rated BFAs and I hear lots of good things about UNCSA. Of course NYU and Emerson are very good - NYU has a very large class.

What are your thougths on pros & cons for UCLA BA vs CalArts BFA?

Heard that Minnesota/Guthrie has begun making its calls.

Yes, I know about 10 people who have been accepted... Along with 2 who have been rejected.
